Using input elements
In the form designer there are input elements, group elements, structure elements and special elements available. The following list explains all input elements and their specific setting options:
1. Input field
Single-line text input
Type: Text, integer, decimal, phone number, email, URL
Default value: The value entered here will be pre-filled when the form is opened. With the option “Default as placeholder” this value is only displayed with a grey background (e.g. as explanation text) – the field remains empty despite the displayed default value.
2. Multiline text field
Multi-line text input. Line breaks can be used.
Field size: The height of the field in the mobile app – i.e. how many lines are visible: Small: 2 lines | Medium: 4 lines | Large: 6 lines

3. Date / time
Input of a date or time via a calendar or clock overlay.
Type: Date, Time, Date & Time
Default date: A default value can be set, e.g. today, yesterday, tomorrow, etc.
4. Checkbox
A checkbox that can be selected and deselected.
Label for NO choice: The output value if the field is not selected. This value will appear in the export file (PDF/Word) when sending.
Label for YES choice: The output value if the field is selected. This value will appear in the export file (PDF/Word) when sending.
Default value: Defines whether the box should be selected by default or not.
5. Selection field
List with multiple selection options
Multiple selection: Allows the selection of multiple elements
Default value: The value or values that should be preselected.
6. List
List with multiple selection options, also enables the use of cross-form lists.
Multiple selection: Allows the selection of multiple elements
Cross-form list: List elements are taken from the global, cross-form list. The list can be managed centrally across all forms.
Default value: The value or values that should be preselected.
7. Photo
Insert a photo from the camera or from the device’s image archive. In the Android and iOS app, you can draw or mark over the photo. Various brush colours and line widths are available.
Preview size: Determines the display size of an image in the app after insertion (currently iOS only). The size in the PDF export is independent of this and is defined via the placeholder in the Word template.
8. Signature
A signature can be captured via the touchscreen of the device.
Lock: If the “Lock” option is activated, nothing can be changed in the form after signing, unless the signature is deleted.
Preview size: Determines the display size of the signature in the app (iOS only). The size in the PDF export is independent of this and is defined via the placeholder in the Word template.
9. Drawing
A drawing can be created via the touchscreen in the Android and iOS app. Various brush colours and line thicknesses are available. A background image can also be uploaded, e.g. a floor plan to draw on.
Preview size: Determines the display size of the drawing in the app (iOS only). The size in the PDF export is independent of this and is defined via the placeholder in the Word template.
10. Slider
Slider with a numeric scale (e.g. 1 to 5) or a text scale (e.g. poor to very good).
Type: Integer or text
Default value: The value displayed as preselected when the form is opened.
11. Geolocation
Determines the current location of the device (depending on the device’s location settings).
Automatic geolocation: If activated, the location is determined automatically when the form is opened, provided the app has been granted location permission.
12. Transcribed audio
Records audio via the device’s microphone. The recording is automatically transcribed and the recognised text is saved directly in the form – ideal for quick voice notes in the field.
13. Barcode / QR code
Allows a barcode or QR code to be scanned.
14. Duration
Allows the input of a time duration in a defined format. Can be used, for example, to add a duration to a date.
Format: Defines which time units can be entered – year, day, hour, minute, second.
