What is MCP?
MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open standard that lets AI assistants work with other software. Formtastic provides its own MCP connection. This lets your AI assistant read the templates and documents in your account and, if you allow it, edit them.
Which AI assistants work?
ChatGPT and Claude, plus any other AI assistant that supports MCP, such as Codex or Cursor. With ChatGPT and Claude, you simply sign in to Formtastic in your browser to connect.
Do I need technical knowledge?
No. You add your Formtastic address to your AI assistant, sign in in your browser and confirm access. You will find a step-by-step guide in our help center. We are also happy to set up the connection together with you.
Is my data safe?
Nothing changes about how your data is stored: it stays GDPR-compliant on our servers in Germany. The AI acts as your Formtastic user, only within your company and with the access you grant. Your role and template permissions still apply. Please note: whatever your AI assistant retrieves is also processed by its provider. Which assistant you use is your decision and your responsibility.
Can the AI change things without my approval?
Only if you allow “Read & write”. With “Read only”, the AI can only search and run reports. It creates new templates as drafts that you review before publishing. You can disconnect at any time in your Formtastic account.
